Promotions are running smoothly in the Free State. At the moment there are more than 30 in-store demonstrations that take place every month. There is also regular talks at woman’s group meetings.
 
There are a significant number of people that wants to buy during and after promotions. This is why butchers utilize these demonstrations to present those pork cuts that are not popular or well known. The promotion consultants are very knowledgeable in their field and provide potential customers with accurate information on the preparation of the meet as well as safety aspects of pork meet. More often than not clients associate the consultant with the product and return to the same outlet because of the outstanding service they received during past visits. The value of pork promotions can not be underestimated. This can be seen with an increase in sales during promotion periods. All traders are very optimistic and positive with regard to these promotions.
 
For the last three years promotions was held in co-operation with the Free State University of Technology’s (SUT) Hotel School. The Food and Beverage Institute (FBI) also participated at these promotions. Unfortunately due to other commitments these institutions will not be part of the promotions this year but we were assured that they will again join us in 2008.
 
In conclusion the pork industry in the Free State is healthy and strong. With a staff members that are experienced and students that are enthusiastic the future looks even better.
