Promotions in Durban
Heather Cullinan 2009 has been an eventful year for all the Durban ladies. Beside our normal in-store demonstrations which still stand at 32 per month, we have organised two very successful stands at the Good Food and Wine show at the exhibition centre in Durban. The stand was manned by at least two ladies at a time where we grilled neck steaks, rashers and sausages from 10 am to 9pm daily over the four day period. This amounted to 88kg of fresh pork which was sponsored by Sala, Seb Meats, Bluff Meats, Everfresh, Dirks Meats Market, and model Meats. We would like to say a big thank you to them all. The show last year was in mid August and in July this year. These shows give the pork producers a lot of exposure with thousands of people from all walks of life tasting our pork samples, receiving recipes and recipe booklets. The ladies were able to answer any question regarding the health aspects of eating fresh SA pork and offering ideas on cooking and the preparation of recipes. It was pleasing how many more Indians in particular are now eating and buying pork. During the month of March this year when the pork adverts on TV 1,2 and 3 were on, all the ladies received new banners to display in store, highlighting the pork cuts that were being advertised. We also started an in-store promotion at that time, giving mini soccer balls to those customers who purchased pork. This was in keeping with the theme of the adverts. This promotion was well received in all the stores and brought much attention to adverts and the pork. Customers loved receiving the balls and this certainly improved our sales on the day.
