The KZN Pork Producers' Organisation

The Natal Pork Producer's Organisation is the official organisation for pork producers in the province. Pork producers in KwaZulu-Natal represents 16 600 sows.

The organisation aims to promote all matters pertaining to pig farming in the province. The organisation also promotes, supports or opposes legislative or other measures affecting the pig industry in KwaZulu-Natal.

Membership is open to any person resident in KwaZulu-Natal, who is interested in the breeding or processing of pigs. Close to 90% of the pig farmers in the province pay a voluntary levy to finance the organisation and SAPPO.

The activities of the organisation are controlled by a board which is appointed at the organisation's annual general meeting. This usually takes place in July/August each year. The annual general meeting is the organisation's highest authority. For highlights of the recent annual general meeting, click in the top right box.
