Welcome to Pork Pantry

Welcome to Pork Pantry, the South African Pork Producers' Organisation's (SAPPO) information page for consumers.

If you are not an ardent pork lover yet, it is time to discover this modern and reliable friend to your kitchen. Pork is healthy, versatile and good value for money.

Our mouth-watering recipes will convince you that pork is very tasty and the ideal protein to keep your family healthy. It is rich in vitamins and minerals, and easy to prepare. Pork is therefore ideally suited for the modern person's need for meals in minutes.

Through changes in feeding and production techniques, pork producers today deliver pork which has 31 percent less fat than 20 years ago. Many pork cuts are as lean as skinless chicken.

All lean, trimmed pork cuts with no more than 3 mm visible fat, are approved by the Heart Foundation

Nowadays pork is low in fat and low in kilojoules. It contains a low percentage of intramuscular fat, making it an ideal choice for slimmers and healthy eaters. Once visible fat has been trimmed, pork contains only 1,5% intramuscular fat.
